Foundation Help To Raise Money For The Christie Hospital

Young people who have gained their nail technician qualifications through the Rio Ferdinand Foundation put their skills to good use today when they joined together with the Beacon Centre in Salford to help raise funds for the Christie Hospital in partnership withBBC Radio Manchester.

Anyone who donated to the appeal had the opportunity to give their nails a treat with a variety of techniques provided by the Foundation participants.

404 Not Found BBC Radio Manchester afternoon presenter Becky Want was present at the centre and interviewed staff from the Foundation and young people Michelle and Courtnie.

It wasn’t just females who were interested in giving their nails some pampering either as male pupils from the Albion Academy in Salford also signed up, admitting afterwards that they enjoyed the whole experience.

The Christie charity was selected as the first-ever charity of the year partner for BBC Radio Manchester and the partnership aims to raise funds to benefit cancer patients in Greater Manchester through a new mobile chemotherapy unit that will take Christie care closer to patients’ homes.
