RFF supports #UnitedAgstEbola campaign launch
Emeli Sandé took to the piano to perform at the launch for The Michael Essien Foundation’s #UnitedAgstEbola campaign, headed up by Essien’s wife Akosua Peni Essien. Speaker John Bercow hosted at the House of Commons, joined by Labour MP Keith Vaz, Lord Paul Boateng, the Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening and Japanese diplomat Keiichi Hayashi.
Masterminded in association with Health Africa International and backed by the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, the initiative is described as ‘public education project to inform people about how and why Ebola spread’s.
#UnitedAgstEbola seeks to fund over 14 NGO organisations on the ground across Western Africa to provide an intense education program to combat the beliefs and cultural practices which increase the chances of contracting ebola. Communication programmes in remote villages are vital to the success of this programme with emphasis on social mobilisation.
