Two Teams From RFF Salford Projects Go Head to Head in Thrilling Futsal Final!
On Thursday the 9th of July 2015 the Rio Ferdinand Foundation was proud to be a part of an exciting Introduction-to-Futsal Tournament located at the University of Salford’s Sports Centre.
We took two teams along from two different football projects that we run in Salford. One in Ordsall and one in Broughton.
Although the Ordsall boys worked brilliantly as a team and defeated some of the tournaments tough competitors, they were unable to beat the Broughton team who had been impressive throughout the competition. The level of teamwork and commitment by all the teams involved was a joy to behold and made the tournament a great success.
Salford University hosted the event to help promote the Futsal 5s League with the Manchester Futsal Club.
Programme Manager Beth Powell said: “We had a really fun time! The young people quickly got the hang of the new rules and indoor court, so were able to improve throughout the competition and show-off their ball control with the smaller Futsal ball. It was great for them to see the University and meet some of the other league teams. It was also a great chance for young people from the different areas and projects in Salford to mix. Thanks to our coaches and tournament organisers for all their hard work!”
