The exhibition included 32 powerful images, each one created by a young woman from Salford.  The young women were responding to a brief called ‘Positive Futures’, in which they were set the task of creating a visual representation of something they wanted in the future either for themselves or for their local community.

Our Youth Day celebrations did not end there!!

On Friday the 14th of August 2015, to celebrate Youth Day, young people from the Foundation helped run an arts and crafts workshop at Eccles Youth Centre… affectionately named “Craft-a-noon Tea’.  During this workshop the team enjoyed an afternoon of fun activities, games, art and lots of delicious and healthy food!

Eccles’ local police team joined the festivities and helped themselves to a yummy cake. The Rio Ferdinand Foundation is committed to working with local police to help highlight the positive contributions that young people make to their communities.

Salford Youth Day is an annual day of activities organised by young people, for young people across the city. It aims to show the real and important contribution made by 11 to 25 year olds in all aspects of daily life in Salford.

To round off this wonderful occasion, Programme Manager Beth Powell took a group of young people from our projects to the Salford Youth Day after-party hosted by Salford’s Youth Council. Young people from across the city came together to enjoy an evening of food, music and fun. Awards were offered for those young people making an outstanding contribution, despite the difficulties they face. We are very proud to say that our Youth Leader John received an Award for his community leadership through dance.  Click the link bellow to view John receiving his award at the Youth Day celebrations!
