RFF Delivers Football & Employability Event at Trafford Sports Dome


On the 11th of December 2015 the Rio Ferdinand Foundation delivered a Football and Employability event at Trafford Power League in Greater Manchester.  The event brought employers and young people together to discuss work experience opportunities and employment options in a fun environment with the added bonus of a 5-a-side football tournament!!!

From 6.00pm to 6.45pm the event ran as a employability fair supported by BBC Young Ambassadors,  Manchester United FoundationSkills Shop and Back 2 Work . All of whom promoted various employment opportunities and traineeships.

Our event was hosted by the very talented DJ Josh – Josh volunteers at a local youth centre in the Salford and is working closely with the foundation to set up his own #RFF Young Leaders Programme in the new year.

From 6.45pm until 9.00pm the event ran as a 5-a-side tournament with 8 teams from across Greater Manchester participating.

LifeLine Alfa, TUFC, Youth Arise, Spring Villa, StreetLeague, RFF Orsdall, RFF Broughton and Manchester United Foundation all put teams forward to compete for the Champions League trophy!


The tournament was a huge success and there where some fantastic skills and teamwork on show throughout the evening.

We’d like to thank all of the teams that came down to play, congratulations to the Manchester United Foundation team who won the final and to RFF Orsdall who were the runners up of the tournament. Well done!

Thank you to all of our young volunteers that helped to run and facilitate the event. It was fantastic to have such a wonderful team to support us, special thanks goes to Jeff Pond from LifeLine who helped with the tournament running’s and also to First Response, our brilliant first aid team!!!
