Young People of Salford Undertake Level 1 Using Sport To Tackle Youth Crime!

IMG_1032On Tuesday the 31st of May young people from Salford and Manchester took part in a free Level 1 Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime Qualification at the Castlefield Y-Club on Liverpool road, Manchester City Centre.

Orchestrated by the Rio Ferdinand Foundation and delivered by Flying Futures, the 3 day qualification ran from 9am to 5pm and was designed to give learners an opportunity to develop both the practical and theoretical skills needed in using sport to tackle youth crime.  This involved such things as being able to plan a community session, being able to deliver a community sport-based activity as well as having an understanding of the health and safety roles required to carry out an activity within a community setting.

404 Not Found The Y-Club (also know as the YMCA) has been a long standing hub of the community helping to provide support to many different demographics since 1844 and it was a great location for the Level 1 Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime course!

It was great to see so many fantastic young people investing time in their own learning and giving themselves the opportunity to have a brighter futures!
