Our Comic Relief funded 5SA programme works with a host of partners to provide positive development activities and pathways for some of London’s most hard to reach young people.
Currently working across Lambeth, our staff run a range of sports sessions, media activities and youth clubs to engage young people (aged 11-19 years) and raise their aspirations to achieve.
Through the programme, young people deemed high risk of gang involvement are matched with mentors and a network of positive role models and opportunities are built around them. Taking learnings from our wider programmes, participants are given opportunities to train as youth leaders and coaches, actively leading sessions to their peers. This, coupled with our personal and social development training package and accredited qualifications, builds young people’s confidence and skills and raises their aspirations to achieve.
Working in partnership with our network of other agencies, football clubs, businesses and the media, the 5SA programme makes the employment market more accessible to participants and supports them to find work experience placements and opportunities for them to progress and succeed.
Currently in its second year of delivery, in addition to sports sessions and related partnership opportunities, 5SA participants are excited to be working with a film-making collective who are providing opportunities for young people to get experience in the production of an independent film which tackles local social issues.
