Rio’s Kick Stars

Our Sport England funded Kick Stars initiatives provide football sessions and coach development opportunities for young women and girls (aged 13-19) in London and Manchester.

In both areas, RFF have been working with cohorts of girls from local communities in delivering an all-girls football programme involving football training sessions, mentoring, accredited qualifications and a work placement coaching multi sports. Beyond providing regular sporting and positive activities for young women and girls, the programme is working to empower participants to run their own projects and training the next generation of female leaders.

In Salford, the programme works with a range of partners including UTC and Walkden High School and in London the programme works in partnership with Bellingham Gateway and Millwall FC. Both regions have held a number of residential trips and community tournaments – next on the cards we hope to bring the teams together for an all-girls Rio Cup!
