The Foundation were thrilled to launch its Home Office Building Stronger Britain Together (BSBT) initiative in March this year. Now in full swing with a busy summer programme of activities across the four London boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham & Tower Hamlets, the programme delivers a range of sports, arts and digital media activities to young people and provides sports leadership and media for action training.
The main aim of the programme is to create opportunities to bring young people from different communities together to drive social action locally and provide alternative narratives to the ‘Us vs. Them’ polarising and divisive thinking among young people.
Already the young people we’re working with have come up with some innovative ideas to tackle local issues and challenges and started work on some inspiring digital pieces.
The teaser video below is a snippet from a film some of our young people are making in partnership with the Damilola Taylor Centre. Not only have our young film-makers been looking at the issue of knife-crime in their community, they are now making a film about the centre by interviewing staff and young people attending the centre as well as local residents, about the history of the centre, what it means to them and why it is still a key community hub today.
Stay tuned for the full film which will be published later this month.
