Daniel, is one of our young people who has been partaking in the BT #WorkReady placement scheme. He was on the engineering pathway whilst working at BT Manchester.
We had a chat with Daniel to find out more about his experience at BT and what he gained from it.
During his time at BT Daniel said “The best thing that we learned in there was actually going round and seeing what’s happening at BT and how BT works.” Getting to know the ins and outs of a major company attracted Daniel to course. In particular he said he” found out a lot of things about the internet, how the servers work and about the infastrucure.” He continued to say “I hope to get an apprenticeship with BT.”.
This was Daniel’s first time doing work experience. We asked what new skills the placement had taught him. Daniel told us “It helped me a lot with CV writing and how to apply for jobs and they gave me support on how to apply for an apprenticeship” Since finishing the placement, Daniel has just secured a job working for a large high-street retailer whilst finishing his studies at college.
Through the scheme Daniel has a clear path as to what steps he needs to take to reach his career aspirations. “My next steps are to finish my English in college and gain an IT qualification and then apply for a BT apprenticeship once i’ve got my driving license.”
Here at #RFFManchester we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you to BT #WorkReady for helping Daniel find his foot on the career ladder.
