Rising Stars

Our flagship ‘Rio’s Rising Stars’ programme ran from 2013 to 2016 and worked with thousands of young people across Salford.  This programme was independently evaluated by the University of Gloucestershire and considered an innovative and ground-breaking programme.

Funded by the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund, RRS worked with Salford’s most marginalised young people such as those within, or leavers of, the care system; and young people involved, or at risk of involvement, in violent gang-related crime and anti-social behaviour and provided positive role models and pathways to acheivement.

Working with an eclectic mix of community partners and others from the worlds of sport and media across Salford and Greater Manchester including MUFC and some of the heavy weights at Media City, the Rising Stars programme was pivotal in developing the Foundation’s Youth Leadership model.

Our new ‘Inspiring Youth Leaders’ programme is a continuation and expansion of this vibrant youth and community development programme.
