RFF London are delighted to announce we will be working on our new #Achievers project funded by Thrive LDN’s #iwill Fund. The #iwill Fund supports the aims of the UK-wide #iwill campaign, which strives to make involvement in volunteering and social action part of life for more young people by 2020. The fund is made possible thanks to joint funding from the Government and the Big Lottery Fund – using money raised by National Lottery players. This will enable us to develop #Achievers throughout Southwark and Lambeth. The #Achievers programme supports and develops young people into community youth leaders, increasing personal and social skills through volunteering, training and social action projects.

Each #Achiever will be matched with a mentor from an area/industry which inspires and interests them. The #Achievers will then work together to canvas and consult with other young people in their communities, find out what issues they are facing and what sort of community activities would interest them. Our mentors and youth workers will then hold a series of ongoing workshops and sessions as well as residential trips and away days to develop the #Achievers leadership skills and support them to turn these ideas into real community social action. This will include using sports, arts and media activities, roaming reporter style video and media projects, and talent/talk shows in partnership with local schools and community centres.

We our looking forward to working with our #Achievers as they grow and develop to build a safer, fairer London for all young people.

#Achievers – Coming to a community near you soon!
