Hope Collective- Changing the Conversation

Putting the spotlight on hope- Foundation backs Hope 2020 Campaign

The Hope Collective is a powerful partnership of leading cross-sector organisations with aligned values and a shared vision; to work together in a spirit of unity to create real change for young people and communities across the UK.

The Foundation was a founding partner of the Hope Collective, established in 2020 to support the 20th anniversary legacy campaign for Damilola Taylor, a campaign with the desire to drive real change and to tackle inequality in the heart of our communities.

The Foundation provided the Hope Collective with a series of online workshops, sessions that empowered the youth voice, changed the narrative surrounding racism and supported young people to realise their ambitions for the future throughout the Covid pandemic.

In 2020 following a national campaign the Hope Collective succeeded in having 7 December (Damilola Taylor’s birthday) declared as a National day of Hope for young people by the Prime Minster.

In 2021 the Rio Ferdinand Foundation supported the delivery of 5 youth facing Hope Hack events around the UK. The one day events included star speakers, panel debates and breakout workshops looking at top line issues that manifested from poverty and inequality.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation continues to be a part of the Hope Collective to amplify young people’s voices and their hopes for the future.

“I remember the impact the death of Damilola had on Peckham and society.”

“Twenty years on I am delighted that my own foundation is working with the Damilola Taylor Trust and the Hope Collective helping to shape this memorial campaign.”

“It is important we change the narrative around young people and offer support and pathways to allow them to shape a positive future and and fulfil their potential.”
