The Appeal

In 2021, 700,000 young people in the UK had disengaged from their education completely, weren't working and had no idea what to do with their lives.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation provides positive opportunities to support young people to overcome these challenges.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation believes each young person is unique, and by providing positive and supportive opportunities we can uncover their talents, broaden their horizons and raise their aspirations to achieve.

Through our teams in Manchester, London and Northern Ireland we deliver local support sessions for young people in safe spaces. Spaces where they feel comfortable in their skin, and they can explore their identities, issues and needs.

We use sports, arts, and media activities to boost young people’s confidence. We provide leadership training to build their self-belief, and we support young people with tailored training and progressions pathways specific to their skills and interests.

In the last 10 years we have engaged over 10,000 young people, we have provided training opportunities for 2359, mentored 223 and delivered 28 grass roots community programmes. With the help of the BBC Radio 4 Appeal we can do much more.

Together we can support thousands more young people to realise their potential.

A donation of just £50 creates a tailored support training and support programme for a young person facing hardship or inequality.

Please share the news of our BBC Radio 4 Appeal. Together we can give young people the support they deserve.

Founder, Rio Ferdinand, said:

“All young people need support and encouragement, but not everyone has a supportive family like I did, to back them and boost their confidence.

With your help, we can support thousands more young people to uncover their talents and build their skills. Together we can give them the support that all young people deserve.”

You can make a difference to the lives of young people and their communities by donating to support our work.

No matter what you can afford. Visit the donate page to find out how your donation helps a young person.
