The Guinness Partnership

The skills development programme aims to inspire, connect and equip young people with the essential networks and skills for life.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation is proud to be working with The Guinness Partnership to offer resilience building, skills, training and employability support to marginalised young people living in Guinness housing across Oldham and London that will improve their employability and life skills.

The skills development programme is funded by the The Guinness Partnership with financial support from Construction companies Wates, Kier and low-carbon energy provider EQUANS.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation are delivering a variety of sessions involving digital media (photography, product design, filmmaking, podcasting) as well as building employability skills via mentoring, working on CV’s, mock interviews and shadowing opportunities to build confidence.

On completion of the programme, young people will take part in accredited training through the Open College Network Youth Leadership Award and will be able to access further training and volunteering opportunities in their local community.

“Creating opportunities for people to improve their lives and strengthen communities is at the heart of what we do, alongside providing the homes people need. We can’t wait to see the difference this opportunity will make as young people succeed in their aims by focusing on their talents and the things they enjoy.”
— Alistair Smyth, The Guinness Partnership’s Director of External Affairs and Social Investment
I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the programme, it has helped me to get out of the flat and build up my confidence and skills in something I like doing. I didn’t think anything like this programme would be available to me, I’ve felt supported and able to more forwards with my life.
