Post Title: Sessional Assistants/Coaches          

Location: Belfast 

Hourly rate: £12-15 per hour

Hours: Monday 5-7pm and Wednesday 8-10pm and various other hours

Responsible to: Head of Programmes – Northern Ireland & Ireland

JOB SUMMARY

Our Sessional Workers play an important role in the implementation of our Northern Ireland programmes. The central focus of the role includes delivering a diverse range of youth projects with key responsibilities around session development and face to face delivery with young people. Our Sessional Workers will also need to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and ensure service delivery for young people is provided to the highest possible standards. 

We are looking for staff to be available for:

-      Monday evenings from 5-7pm at Connswater Community Centre.

-      Wednesday nights from 8-10pm at Avoniel Leisure Centre.

-      Flexibility to join various workshops, trips, events and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL

·       Ability to motivate and earn respect of young people

·       Belief in young people and in helping them take more active roles in their communities

·       An interest in youth work and community sports coaching

·       Experience of and a passion for youth work and delivering exciting and challenging activities

·       A commitment to promoting Equality, Diversion, and Inclusion

DESIRABLE

·       FA Level 1 or 2 Football Coaching Certificate.

·       Youth Work Qualification or relevant experience.

·       Experience of sports coaching in a community setting.

·       Experience of delivering youth projects utilising a range of tools i.e., music, media, and the arts.

·       Experience of supporting young people with Specialist Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

·       Experience of supporting vulnerable young people from diverse backgrounds. 

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

·       Work with the Northern Ireland Delivery team to deliver community sports sessions and projects across Belfast ensuring they are delivered to the highest standard.

·       Positively engage with a variety of target groups including young people facing disadvantage, young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) or those at risk of becoming NEET, young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as well as young people with refugee and asylum seeker status.

·       Support the delivery of motivational and inspirational sessions that lead to positive outcomes for young people.

·       Assist the Session Lead and Head of Programmes to plan and develop new sessions and  as well as developing existing ones.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Work with the team to deliver a range of youth work activities utilising sports, arts, media, or music activities to engage young people from diverse backgrounds.

·       Assist the Lead Worker in the set-up, delivery and pack-down of high-quality sessions that meet the needs and interests of young people, and which supports the project aims and objectives.

·       Act as a positive role model for young people on your sessions and build positive relationships with them.

·       Provide practical, empathetic support and encouragement to young people through personal development plans, mentoring and group work which advances and improves achievement and supports young people to realise their potential.

·       Help to identify young peoples’ issues that are affecting their ability to maximise their futures and provide tailored support that assists young people to overcome these barriers.

·       Ensure that session registers and monitoring forms are completed and stored securely in line with the Foundation’s policies.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Work flexibly where appropriate on evenings, weekends and during school holidays to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.

·       Undertake training in order to develop work related skills and knowledge.

·       Work with due regard for RFF core values and objectives.

·       Ensure the effective implementation of, and adherence to the organisations safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety policies and procedures.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

The below are preferred but not essential as training can be provided by Rio Ferdinand Foundation

·       Valid First Aid certificate

·       Safeguarding certificate

The post holder will be required to undergo an Access NI check.
