Find Your Future Launches

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation and The Gym Group’s new programme, Find Your Future, launched today. This new community focused programme will see The Gym Group partner with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation to inspire the next generation and their future careers.

During, the next 12 months, The Rio Ferdinand Foundation will create opportunities for up to 150 young people in South London via an employment skills programme and the Community Sports Leadership Award, an accredited training programme. The Gym Group will support those students by utilising the skills of their managers and support teams as ambassadors to deliver both practical and theory-based knowledge on fitness and develop employability skills in the Leisure industry.

The activities will be delivered in youth centres across South London and utilise The Gym Groups local gym facilities for a realistic on the job experience.

Bintou Crookes-Martin, Chair, Rio Ferdinand Foundation:

“This partnership with the Gym Group will support young people to develop the skills and experience to secure meaningful careers in the sports and fitness industries. By developing and investing in young peoples confidence, transferable skills leadership and project management accreditations and in gaining real-life work experience and placements with mentors, this programme will create real pathways for young people to enter the fitness industry and the wider world of work.”

In addition to the Find Your Future Programme, The Gym Group have created a further opportunity to those who wish to start their career in the Fitness industry. The new Grow Your Own programme, will provide further training and investment into the qualifications needed to becoming a Personal Trainer and develop a successful business.

Regional Manager of London and London South Aarron Benn:

“This is a really exciting partnership for myself, TGG and our gyms. We are thrilled to be partnering with such a fantastic charity which aligns so many of its core values to our business. Supporting and mentoring young people to improve their skillset to enter any place of work. Improving their futures and additional life skills is so important. Something we should all be really proud of.

Not only will this support young people generate further skills but we will be potentially investing in our future Fitness Trainers and even potentially managers of the future, which is incredible. I can’t wait to work with everyone on the partnership and to start sharing all the success stories we are going to have.”.
